Dear UNC Alumni, 2016 has been a great bonding year for alumni in Korea. We were able to organize an unprecedented turnout to support our basketball team during March Madness (we’ll get ’em next year!). Having been in direct competition with Syracuse alumni who had rented the floor above us, we can proudly say that we drowned their cheers with our cries of Tar HeelS. In May, we were visited by members of the UNC General Alumni Association and a reception was held in their honor. The event was a great opportunity to strengthen ties with our Chapel Hill counterparts and fellow alumni. As we now approach the end of the year, I hope to continue this momentum of unity and school spirit. To this end, I would like to extend an invitation to each and every alumnus to the annual UNC-CH Alumni End of Year Event on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 at 6 p.m. at Seoul Club in Namsan. The End of Year Event is a unique opportunity to meet up with old friends and make new acquaintances with alumni residing in or visiting Korea. This year’s End of Year Event promises to be even more special for three reasons. First, it will be the first Korean joint alumni event that incorporates the previously separated Bachelor’s, Master’s, MBA and PhD alumni associations. This will provide greater networking opportunities. Second, we have improved location accessibility by hosting at the Seoul Club, which is located in central Seoul. Third, our event committee has been working very hard over the past few months to prepare numerous exciting programs that will incite nostalgia of our Chapel Hill campus years as well as create new fun memories. There are also generous prizes to be won throughout the evening. We are still in the process of receiving sponsorships and/or gifts for the evening.
